The best-preserved example of castle architecture in Ústí nad Orlicí district, situated on a rocky promontory - itself a natural monument - above the Divoká Orlice river meander. Visitors can ascend the castle tower on their own or with a guide, and enjoy the view of Kralický Snežník mountain range and granite quarries in Litický Chlum hills. In the castle palace they will find an exhibition of archaeological finds and period photographs and picture postcards. The castle is a popular destination of hikers and cyclists, who can use a 6-km trail leading from Potštejn through the Orlice Natural Park.

Litice je cástecne rekonstruovaná zrícenina hradu na hradním kopci v obci Litice nad Orlicí, asi 7 km západne od mesta Žamberk.

Hrad Litice byl založen nekdy koncem 13. stol. za posledních Premyslovcu v rámci kolonizace tehdy ješte rídce osídleného pohranicního pralesa severovýchodních Cech, který byl královským majetkem. Podhurí povodí obou Orlic osídlili clenové rodu Puticu, kterí zakládali osady v jihozápadních Cechách a také vybudovali starší hrad Litice na Plzensku. Jména svých nekterých puvodních rodových sídel prenesli i do své nové državy a vybudovali zde opernou sít nových hradu, z nichž vedle Chocne, Kostelce a Potštejna to byl i náš hrad Litice. O Liticích máme první písemnou zprávu až z roku 1316. A to v souvislosti s rucením z doby konfliktu Jana Lucemburského s Jindrichem z Lipé. Zástavou hradu králi mel Jindrich ml. z Lipé (zvaný Železný) rucit, že jeho otec Jindrich z Lipé po propuštení z vezení splní podmínky, které král stanovil. Karel IV. po svém návratu z Itálie do Cech vykoupil radu královských hradu, mezi nimi i Litice. Pozdeji se hrad na krátko dostal do držení pánu z Lichtenburka.
