The Erpeler Ley is a basalt rock on the Rhine near Erpel, a few kilometres north of the mouth of the Ahr. Together with the Drachenfels, the rock at 191 m above sea level (131 m above the Rhine) is one of the best-known volcanic ruins in the Middle Rhine Valley.
The Erpeler Ley is one of the most striking rocks in the Rhine Valley. The entire area of the Erpeler Ley is a nature reserve.
The Erpeler Ley is located above the former "Bridge of Remagen", which was conquered against fierce resistance during the advance of US troops.
