Central Fire Station is a beautiful building. One-story and constructed of red brick, it has five overhead doors across the front, each with 24 panes of glass, and stone block arches. The doors are marked B-1, R-1, T-1, B-1 and R-5 to indicate the vehicles they hold. The Department is also housed in the building to the immediately south.

The Durant Fire Department has 36 firefighters, and average 2,000 incidents annually, which include fire, medical, accident and hazardous materials events. They are a Class 3/3Y ISO Rated department, and have 911 services. The fire department provides many services to the community including tours of the station, and training with fire extinguishers, and installation of child car seats and smoke alarms.
