In the 100 block of North First Avenue is an area known as Market Square. During the early days of Durant, this is the place where farmers could bring their produce for sale, and the area became an active trade area for Bryan County.

The Durant Downtown Streetscape Phase II project undertook preserving and highlighting Market Square for its historic value. Market Square is an area where several monuments and dedications honor the early days of this community. These pavers are located in a patio area on the west side of the Square Cafe. Built in 1924, this cafe, first built as restrooms for the active trade area later became a cafe to serve the market customers. These pavers helped with the restoration and displays of these historic items.
