"Heating, ventilating & drying engineers ; air handling and air conditioning equipment ; fans and blowers ; unit heaters ; unit coolers ; unit conditioners ; air washers ; steam engines ; humidifying systems; exhaust fans ; Thomas Clarage and Charles Bird founded Clarage in 1874. The company manufactured industrial fan equipment, horizontal steam engines and gray iron castings. In 1912 the company changed its name to Clarage Fan Company. Additional designs of industrial fans and blowers were added to the product line. Eighteen years later, Clarage introduced air conditioning equipment to their expanding list of products and discontinued manufacturing steam engines."
