Jean Mottart werd geboren in 1931 en was één van de spilfiguren in het culturele en politieke leven van de Tongerse deelgemeente Nerem. In tal van verenigingen speelde hij een belangrijke rol als voorzitter of als bestuurslid, en maakte na de fusie met Tongeren ook deel uit van de gemeenteraad. In 1987 kwam hij op 57 jarige leeftijd te overlijden. Ter nagedachtenis van deze volksfiguur werd een wandelpad ingericht. De 8 km lange wandeling voert je langs het kasteel van Rosmeulen, het kasteel van Scherpenberg en doorheen het ‘Park van de Oostelijke Jeker’ ook wel ‘Natuurpark de Kevie’.

Jean Mottart was born in 1931 and was one of the key figures in the cultural and political life of the Tongeren borough of Nerem. In many associations he played an important role as chairman or board member, and after the merger with Tongeren he was also a member of the municipal council. In 1987 he died at the age of 57. A walking path was set up in memory of this popular figure. The 8 km long walk takes you past the castle of Rosmeulen, the castle of Scherpenberg and through the 'Park of the Eastern Jeker' also called 'Nature Park de Kevie'.
