Bronze marker affixed to a granite base near the entrance to the Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes.
HMS De Braak was a brigantine that was lost during a sudden squall on 25 May, 1798. 33 of the 85 crewmen died.
The marker text reads:
"On May 25, 1798 at 4:00 PM HM Brig Debraak capsized and sank off the coast of Cape Henlopen, Delaware during a sudden squall. This memorial honors the thirty three members of the eighty five men who were lost at sea."
