This brass map is centred on the West Head Lookout where this Orientation Table is placed in a circular, cemented sandstone block 'table'.
While there are concentric circles lightly scribed into the 'surface of the water areas' the scale is in miles - ONE Mile is indicated, with the others being assumed for: 3 miles, 5 miles, and 7 miles. There are only two direction arrows, with one pointing East, past the representation of Barrenjoey Headland, and the other being Southeast, the other side of the Palm Beach isthmus. Some places are named by very lightly inscribed nomenclature, but they are very easily missed, and I can't rightly transcribe them from the close up photo.
Access: Only available 'in Daylight Hours', when the National Park West Head Road gate is opened. Charge: $12 per vehicle (possibly free for bicycles, if you want a long ride!)
