This benchmark or survey disk is located on an island on Alpine Drive, directly in front of the Canada Post Office in Elkford, BC.

The disk is stamped:

Based on the description and "approximate coordinates", I suspect this marker may be GCM 229575 which is described here (visit link) as:

ON N.SIDE OF ALPINE RD. SEE PLAN 32T1033
W.LAMMERTS 1972 CONTROL SURVEY

Although the mark is described as being at the north side of Alpine Drive, it is likely that the road was later widened and the mark was preserved through the use of the island.

That disk is reported to be marked "9556" The markings on the disk I found appear to be "85HAC" with the possibility that additional characters that are no longer visible to due to damage on the disk surface.
