The park was built as a reclamation project on the site of a former gas works.
Called Millennium Park because the original plan was to open it for the Milennium, but lack of funding delayed the project and it did not open until 2011.
This fountain stands at the entrance to the park and is the form of a water curtain.
A large rectangular frame, overlooking the park, looking like a large window has a cascade of water falling from the top of the frame forming a water curtain that falls onto a paved area.
In warm weather the water curtain is a favourite place for playing in and cooling down. There are changing rooms in the nearby toilets inside the park.
