The town of Caddo was established in 1872 when the MKT Railroad set up a station here. The town sits on an ancient buffalo trail. The town was named for the nearby Caddo Hills. The word is an Indian word - Ka do hada'cho meaning "real chief". The town was incorporated in 1898.
The town's City office and Municipal Court are housed in a one-story metal building at the southeast corner of Buffalo and Main Streets on the east side of the downtown area. The offices are open Mon-Fri from 8:00-4:00. Caddo has a Mayor/City Council form of government with a 5-man Council which meets the first Monday of each month. The town does not have a website.
