5576 Walnut: Property Type: Institutional Building; red brick, gabled-roof fire house with 2 garage bays, built in 1943 by the Town of Augusta." ~ NRHP Nomination Form


"In 1942, municipal services were expanded when the Augusta Community Fire Company was organized; the following year a new brick two- engine fire house was constructed at Walnut and Green Streets in the town square." ~ NRHP Nomination Form


This building was built as the Augusta Fire Department in 1943.
Designed by Dan Kemner, today it houses the Town Council and the local Chamber of Commerce.
Various other official town organizations take advantage of the space for meetings, etc.
