This memorial stands in Boland Park, next to a home where one of the officers was killed. It was 1978 and two inmates escaped from prison and terrorized three states for 34 days, committing numerous crimes and threatening lives. Trooper Billy G. Young and Trooper Houston F. Summers encountered the two on a rural road in Kenefic, and were subsequently killed. A little later that day, 2Lt. Pat Grimes was killed in the neighborhood of this memorial. The inmates were later killed by other police officers.

This monument stands next to individual memorials to each of the men. A U.S. flag flies overhead. This is a granite monument with the seal of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol engraved on it, and the badge numbers of the three officers. The monument reads:

IN MEMORY
Trooper Billy G. Young,50, and Trooper Houston F.
Summers, 62, killed one mile south and 1-3/10 miles east of the Highway 22 and 48 Jct. southeast of
Kenefic Okla. and 2Lt. Pat Grimes, 36 killed in front of 510 Court Street in Caddo, Oklahoma.
