Charles Edgerton, who came to that then-tiny village as a guest at the Lake House, predecessor of the historic Lakeside Inn. Charles Edgerton became the largest shareholder in the Lakeside property. His son Richard later was destined to become sole owner of the hotel. Charles Edgerton was involved in founding Mount Dora's first marina, the Yacht Club, the Lawn Bowling Club, the library, the community auditorium and the first citrus company (Taken from an article in the Orlando sentinel)
