"L'abbaye Saint-Joseph de Nancy est une ancienne abbaye de l'ordre des Prémontrés, située place André-Maginot à Nancy. Depuis 1807, l'abbatiale est affectée au culte protestant et devenue le temple protestant de Nancy ou temple Saint-Jean.
Historique
Ordre des Prémontrés
Les Prémontrés fondèrent un hospice à Nancy en 1635, avec à sa tête un prieur. Au début du xviiie siècle, il décidèrent de la construction d'une église neuve et firent appel à l'architecte italien Giovanni Betto, actif en Lorraine, pour dresser les plans de l'église ; mais la construction commencée en 1713 fut longue, et ne s'acheva qu'en 1759 sous la direction de Claude Mique puis de son fils Louis Joseph.
L'autel.
La communauté ayant été supprimée à la Révolution, l'église fut affectée au culte protestant à partir de 1807, connue depuis sous le nom de temple Saint-Jean, souvenir de l'ancienne porte Saint-Jean. À la suite de cette affectation, des modifications furent apportés par la création d'une galerie, visible sur l'image, un nouvel autel. Le temple fait l’objet d’un classement au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 28 août 1919.

Temple protestant de Nancy, étude de sol
En avril 2013, la communauté protestante découvre des débris d'enduits dans la nef, tombés de la coupole. La Ville de Nancy, propriétaire du lieu, décide la fermeture provisoire du temple pour étudier les désordres constatés. En concertation avec l'Église protestante unie de Nancy, la Ville de Nancy lance un premier chantier pour conforter la plafond de la nef."

Order of Premonstratensians
The Premonstratens founded a hospice in Nancy in 1635, headed by a prior. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, he decided to build a new church and appealed to the Italian architect Giovanni Betto, active in Lorraine, to draw up the plans of the church; but the construction begun in 1713 was long, and was completed in 1759 under the direction of Claude Mique and his son Louis Joseph.
The altar.
The community was removed at the Revolution, the church was assigned to the Protestant worship from 1807, since known as the Temple Saint-Jean, a memory of the old Saint-Jean gate. As a result of this assignment, modifications were made by the creation of a gallery, visible on the image, a new altar. The temple has been classified as a historical monument since August 28, 1919.
2013 works campaign
Protestant Temple of Nancy, soil study
In April 2013, the Protestant community discovered debris of coatings in the nave, fallen from the dome. The City of Nancy, owner of the place, decides the provisional closure of the temple to study the disorders noted. In consultation with the United Protestant Church of Nancy, the City of Nancy is launching a first project to reinforce the ceiling of the 18th century nave. This building became a Protestant church in 1807.
