This is the 6th Evangelical Church in Juist.
The first island church (1400 - 1651) was destroyed by the Petriflut in 1651.
The second island church (1651 - 1715) was so damaged by the Fastnachtssturmflut in 1715 that it was no longer usable.
The third and fourth island church (1715-1779) were built in the districts Billdorf and Loog. The one in Billdorf was destroyed in the Christmas flood in 1717 and the one in Loog became too small.
The fifth island church (1780-1963) was built in the village center.
The sixth island church (since 1964) was built in the village center in the same place where the fifth island church stood.
