The Durant Downtown Historic District has 48 Contributing Properties. City Hall is a one and two-story blonde brick building, in the Art Deco style. It was constructed in 1939 and designed by architect, Bryan W. Nolen.

The main entrance into the one-story portion on the south is recessed within a slightly projecting entrance bay. The double glass doors have a glass transom. The entrance is flanked by cast stone pilasters topped with a stone sunburst. The roof is flat with a stepped stone cornice across the entry and along the first floor section. The windows throughout have been replaced with fixed glass panes. Above the windows flanking the entrance, a strip of eight rows of vertical bricks extend to the cornice. The majority of the two-story section houses an auditorium.
