This is a one-story poured concrete block building with a flat roof. The building gives the impression of Art Deco due to the pilasters flanking the entrance. Above the entrance the words CITY JAIL are shown in the concrete. There are single fixed pane windows in the front entry area, with small, high barred windows at the rear.

The old jail stands just north of the current police department on S. 5th Avenue just one block south of Main Street. A short enclosed walkway joins the two buildings, so this old jail may be used for storage.
