From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"D. Aubrey Moodie Intermediate School was a dual-track middle school in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, that was part of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
It served the educational needs of 370 to 400 students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 from the Lakeview, Bell's Corners, and Bayshore areas of Ottawa. Students come from diverse ethnic, racial, and faith communities. Students were enrolled in the Regular English or Early and Middle French Immersion Programs.
The school offered English as a Second Language Program, and students with special learning needs could access the programs and services offered by the Special Education Department. There were two special education system classes: the General Learning Program and the Developmental Disabilities Class.
The school was named after D. Aubrey Moodie, who was Reeve of Nepean Township from 1954 to 1969 and was known as the "Father of Nepean". Mr. Moodie, a farmer, was first elected to the township council in 1950 and was also a member of Nepean City Council from 1973 to 1976. He lobbied for the creation of the Queensway-Carleton Hospital and sat on its first board of directors.
In November 2016, the OCDSB announced that D.Aubrey Moodie Intermediate School was one of eight schools slated to close before the 2017-18 OCDSB school year. D. Aubrey Moodie's grandson attended and spoke at the school's closing ceremony, along with many other former students."
