An iron pipe with a brass cap, this is about 27 kilometres west on the Old Cascade Highway from Rossland, a bit less than half way to Christina Lake. 1508J happens to have a geocache right beside it, making it much easier to find than most along the highway. The benchmarks here were monumented in 1960 and the road is maintained from Rossland to about 2 kilometres east of here; 1508J being on the unmaintained section. The rest of the road to Christina Lake is unmaintained. We travelled a few kliks of the unmaintained section, but chose not to continue on to Christina Lake so we can't comment on the road's condition through to Christina Lake. One day we'll drive the highway from the other end, looking for a few more benchmarks.
