A marker about a church that was organized on San Jacinto Day. The 1855 building existed until just a few years ago.

This 18"x28" subject marker replaces the medallion & plaque that was presumedly attached to the old church building. The church building was destroyed by a wildfire. I suspect the concrete steps that remain were to the entrance of the church. Those steps now lead to a recently built pavilion.
Here is the text from the original 1970 marker:
Organized April 21, 1855, by pioneer settlers. First pastor: the Rev. W. A. Walker. Isaac Burleson donated site for building, erected in 1855 in Greek revival style, and remodeled in 1961.

The historic Concord Missionary Baptist Church was organized on April 21, 1855 by pioneer settlers prior to the establishment of the community of Concord. The first pastor was the Reverend W. A. Walker who is buried in the Concord Cemetery near the church. Isaac Burleson donated the land for a building. In 1855, a Greek Revival style building was erected. The deed for the church was recorded on June 7, 1856. The church was remodeled in 1961. On September 2, 2011, a Labor Day weekend wildfire destroyed the historic Concord Missionary Baptist Church sanctuary.(1970, 2012)
