This cannon is in a city park across the street from the Putnam County Courthouse in Hennepin, IL. The muzzle has markings that say 30 pdr., 4.2. An Internet search found that this means a 30 pounder with a 4.2 inch bore. The characteristic reinforcement ring on the rear indicates that this gun is a Parrott rifled gun, named after Robert Parrott who developed the method to cast cannons with rifling. Unfortunately the bore was filled with concrete, so I could not tell if there was rifling.

Parking is on street within 25 feet of the cannon.
