On June 7, St. Nicholas Church was inaugurated in a new era by erecting a bell tower.
The renewal of the bell tower became possible thanks to the pensive reflection and endless energy of Irina Pilaria. The proposed revival of the church bells and the implementation of a long-considered project, as well as the involvement of other parishioners. Now the church with its surroundings is filled with a vivid and clear voice.
The Church Chancellor warmly congratulates all the volunteers involved in the reform of the bell tower and, in particular, Irina Pilaria on her birthday.

During the Great Fast, a new bell tower erected on the ground was installed in the cemetery of St. Nicholas Church.
The parish church of St. Nicholas was built in 1938. The small bell tower with its arch windows was just architectural decor. The tower was mostly a decorative one because it did not even have access to it. Bell ropes were guided through a narrow hatch to the loft. Watching without a line of sight on bells is not part of the Russian playing tradition. The caller must be close to the bells, feel the strains of the ropes, see the movements of the bells, and the anchor strikes in the desired places in the scenes. The anchors, on the other hand, were blocked, the wire joints were out of order and the control was hampered by the lack of space when occupied by the ringer.
Thus, it was decided to set up the bell tower to ground. With the effort of voulenteers and effort of our member Irina Pilaria, we ordered the necessary bells from Moscow. Later, a closed steel frame was also bought in from Moscow. With the crane, the old bells were lowered from the tower. Old and new bells were installed on the steel frame with right-handed hands with high-sounding bells, left-handed bells on the left hand, and right-foot keystroke by pushing the foot pedal.
So everything was organized with respect to the tradition! Irina conducted a course for the bell ringers and began her work as a soloist of the Church of St. Nicholas of Helsinki.
Bells are an essential and necessary part of ecclesiastical worship. Now their voice invokes more prayers to the church, emphasizes the sacred moments of worship and places the church god of worship home."

Koska tornin kelloja oli vaikea käyttää, kirkkoon asennettiin uusi kellohihna.

7. kesäkuuta Pyhän Nikolaoksen kirkossa vihittiin uuden maan päälle pystyten kellotapulin.
Kellotapulin uudistaminen tuli mahdolliseksi Irina Pilarin hurskaan pohdinnan ja loputtoman energian ansiosta. Hän ehdotti kirkkokellojen soinnin elävöittämistä ja pitkään harkinnassa olleen hankkeen toteuttamista sekä sai muita seurakuntalaisia talkoisiin mukaan. Nyt kirkko ympäristöineen täyttyy elävällä ja kirkkaalla äänellä.
Kirkkoherra kiittää sydämellisesti kaikkia kellotapulin uudistushankkeeseen osallistuneita talkoolaisia ja erityisesti Irina Pilaria syntymäpäivänsä johdosta.

Suuren paaston aikana Pyhän Nikolaoksen kirkon hautausmaalle asennettiin uusi maan päälle pystytetty kellotapuli.
Pyhän Nikolaoksen seurakuntakirkko on rakennettu vuonna 1938. Pieni kellotorni katolla kaari-ikkunoineen, siinä kaikki – pelkkää arkkitehtonista koristetta. Kellotorni oli lähinnä dekoratiivinen, sillä siihen ei ollut edes pääsyä. Kellojen vaijerit ohjattiin kapean luukun kautta kuoroparvelle. Kellojensoitto ilman näköyhteyttä kelloihin ei kuulu venäläiseen soittoperinteeseen. Soittajan pitää olla aivan kellojen lähellä, tuntea kielien ja narujen jännitykset, nähdä kellojen liikkeet ja ankkurien osumat haluttuihin kohtiin kuvuissa. Nyt ankkurit sitä vastoin jumiutuivat, vaijerien liitokset olivat epäkunnossa ja ohjaus vaikeutui tilapuutteen takia, kun kuoroparvi täyttyi laulajista.
Niinpä kellotapuli päätettiin perustaa maan tasalle. Seurakuntamme jäsenen Irina Pilarin vaivannäöllä ja ponnistelulla tilasimme Moskovasta tarvittavat täydentävät soittokellot. Myöhemmin Moskovasta tuotiin myös suljettava teräskehikko. Nosturin avulla vanhat soittokellot laskettiin alas kellotornista. Vanhat ja uudet soittokellot asennettiin teräskehikkoon siten, että oikealla kädellä ohjataan korkeaäänisiä soittokelloja, vasemmalla kädellä matalaäänisiä kelloja ja oikealla jalalla pääsoittokelloa jalkapoljinta painaen.
Näin kaikki siis järjestettiin perinnettä kunnioittaen! Irina suoritti kellonsoittajain kurssin ja aloitti kuuliaisuustehtävänsä Helsingin Pyhän Nikolaoksen kirkon kellonsoittajana.
Soittokellot ovat olennainen ja välttämätön osa kirkollista jumalanpalvelusta. Nyt niiden ääni kutsuu entistä alkuperäisemmin rukoilijoita kirkkoon, korostaa jumalanpalveluksen pyhimmät hetket ja saattaa kirkkokansaa jumalanpalveluksesta kotiin."
