You can hear sirens in the Czech Republic every first Wednesday of the month at 12.00. The functionality of the immediate warning system and the audibility of sirens on that day are verified. The "Siren test" signal is an uninterrupted stable tone for 140 seconds. Smart "talking" sirens announce the start of the test and the spoken information follows when the sound goes away. Most sirens are older type. They have a rotating electro-mechanical system, which can produce a typical alert sound only - see the cover photo above. The siren in the village of Malé Kyšice is located on a separate structure, on about a 6 meter high metal column with access steps.
