Sirény v Ceské republice mužete slyšet každou první stredu v mesíci ve 12.00 hodin. Jejich spuštením se overuje funkcnost systému okamžitého varování obyvatelstva a také slyšitelnost sirén. Signál „Zkouška sirén" je neprerušovaný stabilní tón sirény po dobu 140 sekund. U elektronických „mluvících" sirén a v nekterých obecních rozhlasech muže testu predcházet a po jeho ukoncení následovat mluvená informace „Zkouška sirén". Vetšina sirén je však staršího typu (rotacní), ty pouze „houkají" - viz titulní foto. Siréna v Pticích je umístena na samostatném kovovém sloupu.

You can hear sirens in the Czech Republic every first Wednesday of the month at 12.00. The functionality of the immediate warning system and the audibility of sirens on that day are verified. The "Siren test" signal is an uninterrupted stable tone for 140 seconds. Smart "talking" sirens announce the start of the test and the spoken information follows when the sound goes away. Most sirens are older type. They have a rotating electro-mechanical system, which can produce a typical alert sound only - see the cover photo above. The siren in the village of Ptice is located on a separate metal column.
