Das besondere an einem Chronogramm ist die Tatsache, dass alle Buchstaben, die in der lateinischen Sprache einer Zahl entsprechen, ein besonderer Stellenwert zugesprochen wird. So ergibt die Addition der Zahlenwerte der einzelnen Buchstaben die Jahreszahl 1751, in der der Bau der Heiligen Stiege fertig gestellt worden ist."
