Veterans Park is located on Main Street on the south edge of Waurika. This monument has a concrete walkway leading to it, with a circular path at the monument. There are five granite pillars, each representing a war engagement. Engraved on the front of each pillar is the United States Seal, and the seals for five branches of the military. At the bottom are the U.S. and Oklahoma flags. At the center of this circle are three flagpoles flying the flags of the United States, Oklahoma and the POW/MIA flag.
Each monument honors those veterans in Jefferson County who served in that war: World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf and Afghanistan. On the back of each pillar are the names of those who served:
World War II - 50 names
Korea - 24 names
Vietnam - 51 names
Persian Gulf - 5 names
Afghanistan - 4 names
Off to the side is a large granite monument which lists the names of 54 donors to this memorial, and the quotation from John F. Kennedy, "My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
