On the initiative of the Veere foundation, these napoleonic front loaders were tested, restored and placed on the Mauritsbolwerk in 2011. The cannon-slopes were cast in Liège around 1811. After being outdated, they were used by Walcheren as bollards along the English Channel for more than a century. They were excavated during the construction of the car park. This cannon is ceremonally used by shooters of the Vereniging Vesting Veere for unloading festive salute shots.
