Addington Station Antiques has constructed a large war memorial adjacent to their antiques store. Numerous sculptures and memorials are present, along with several historical story plaques along the walkway leading to the pavilion. This one reads:

Lightning Strikes
Seven Times
It's October 9, 1943, and
Col. William Leverette
of the 14th Fighter Group
makes Ace on a single
mission as one of six
P-38's defending a British
cruiser and several
destroyers.
In an exciting 15-minute
air battle, the P-38's
managed to down sixteen
Stukas and one JU-88,
with Leverette receiving
credit for seven
of the kills.
