The Holmes Family
The Hahndorf Inn is owned by the Holmes family. A family with 5 generations as Hoteliers and Inn Keepers. German descendants of the family arrived from Bremen aboard the ship Hermann von Beckrath at Port Adelaide in 1847 to settle in the Barossa Valley. The 6 generations of the family have owned hotels throughout South Australia. As far north as Maree.

The Historic Hahndorf Inn Hotel, was first established as the "Australian Arms" in 1863 by Gottlieb Schuetze, to service the township of Halindorf, Australia's oldest German settlement. The single storey building was enlarged 3 years later, becoming the Union Hotel, to accommodate the town's growing population, and was used for town meetings, celebrations and gathering's.
In 1972 The Hahndorf Inn acquired it's present name, and has continued it's tradition of hospitality for the last 150 years. Following a proud heritage The Hahndorf Inn retains much of the Germanic culture in its beer and European cuisine. The Hahndorf INN continues to be a family friendly Motel, servicing the community and world travellers a like.
