In Milton, within the Blue Hills Reservation, is Trailside Museum, which recently installed a solitary bee condominium in its demonstration garden.
The museum is located along Massachusetts Route 138, on the right side, about a mile north of the intersection with MA Route 128. Park in the parking lot for both the Trailside Museum and the Rogers Ski Area. The museum is at the north end of the parking lot. The garden is in easy view from the parking lot. The condo is about 10 feet inside from the edge.
The structure stands about 5 ft tall. is about 1 1/2 feet on a side. There are three levels. Each level has logs and sticks with holes drilled in them. The top has a peaked roof in blue-green.
Beside the structure is a sign saying "Native Solitary Bee (Tunnel-Nesting) Condominium."
