Centennial Plaza is a display along Highway 81 that celebrates the State of Oklahoma's 100th anniversary, which occurred in 2007. Plaques on the wall also highlight the history of Comanche. The plaza has a 12 ft. high stepped white granite block wall as a backdrop. On this are marble plaques.

Oklahoma commemoration:

The Centennial Plaza
This plaza, built in 2007, is Comanche participation,
the recognition of the first 100 years of Oklahoma statehood

Located at the gateway to Comanche, the plaza celebrates the historic past and a commitment to the future of our community

The City of Comanche is commemorated with a plaque that reads:

The City of Comanche
The land on which you are standing was originally part
of the Chickasaw Indian Nation. The Chickasaw Nation
boundaries were the Red River to the south, near Beaver
Creek to the west, near Anadarko to the north, and from
the Canadian River. The Chickasaws were part of the
infamous "Trail of Tears". As early as 1882 white settlers
were moving into the area, leasing land from the
Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes. Johnny and Willie Wilson
leased the land on which Comanche was built. Several
Indian tribes: Chickasaw, Comanche, Kiowa and Apache
hunted the fertile valleys of Cow Creek down to the Red
River, traveling by wagon and horseback from as far
as Ohio. Nearly 500 people had settled in the area
known as the "Border Queen". Comanche became a busy
settlement when the Rock Island Railroad laid tracks.
at the edge of town. Comanche was incorporated in 1898
and the first mayor was George Kincaid.
