The Comrades Monument is located just inside and to the left of the main gate of Cedar Grove Cemetery at 638 Broad Street, New London, CT.

A 7' by 1.5' by 1.5' granite sculpture of a Union soldier wearing a overcoat, cape, and cap stands on top of a 16' high by 6' square granite base. The soldier is standing with his left foot slightly forward and his rifle held vertically by the muzzle with his right hand. His left forearm rest on top of the barrel. Below the figure, each side contains a U.S. shield. Just below, a garland swag encircles the top of the base. At the center of the base each side has a small raised wreath.

On the lower front of base, in raised letter, is the dedication:

IN MEMORY
OF
OUR COMRADES
1861 - 1865

Above the dedication is a relief of the G.A.R. medal and the inscription:

ERECTED BY
W.W. PERKINS POST
NO 47
G.A.R.

Counterclockwise around the base are the inscriptions:

FRATERNITY CHARITY LOYALTY
