On the Esplanade walk between the Manly Wharf and the Aquarium is a pine tree, dedicated to Ruby Cutler.

It seems that Ruby Daphne Cutler (nee Pope) was the mother of Sir Roden Cutler (1916-2002), the longest serving Governor of New South Wales (15 years). She was born 23 October, 1884 in Young, NSW. Ruby was born to Walter R.H. Pope and Julia Ann Pope (nee Roden). She married William Arthur Cutler in 1915 in Manly. [ex- WikiTree: Ruby Cutler, and Wikipedia: Roden Cutler]

The engraved bronze plaque at the base of the Norfolk Pine (?) reads:
