"It is accessed by a Romanesque portal from the former Abbey of Basse-Fontaine (monastery of which only a few beautiful remains remain on the site of its foundation).
The Romanesque nave (about 9 m high and wide for 20 m long), has an astonishing vault semicircular cradle covered with oak planks (painted in grisaille in the style of the churches of Briennois) which mask the frame to which the latter are fixed, so that only the four simple farms remain intersecting all this part of the building.
Transept gothic (the central square corresponds to the choir of the original church), on cross ogives, which ends at each corner by a buttress necessary to support the quadrangular tower (35 meters high). The sanctuary, with its bays, is characteristic of the flamboyant Gothic, as is the North arm of the transept.
The South arm, was built in the eighteenth century to accommodate the altar of St. John the Baptist on which "the finger of the precursor" (the index of the right hand of the saint), relic belonging to the Abbey of Basse-Fontaine secularized in 1773, was to take place the same year (visible in the treasure of the cathedral of Troyes).
Archaeological excavations carried out in the space of the church also made it possible to unearth the vestiges of a column of Gallo-Roman time surmounted by a personage representing the Celtic god Taranis (god of the lightning to be compared to Jupiter ), exposed at the entrance to the nave.
Outside, the visitor can see a polychrome stone Virgin Mary and Child located above the north door and a long epitaph (1590) carved in a stone stuck in the wall next to the south door. Romanesque period. "

" On y accède par un portail roman provenant de l’ancienne abbaye de Basse-Fontaine (monastère dont ne subsistent plus que quelques beaux vestiges sur le lieu même de sa fondation).
La nef romane (environ 9 m de haut et de large pour 20 m de long), a une étonnante voute en berceau plein cintre couverte de planches de chêne (peintes en grisaille dans le style des églises du briennois) qui masquent la charpente à laquelle ces dernières sont fixées, de sorte que seules restent visible les quatre fermes simples entrecoupent toute cette partie de l’édifice.
Transept gothique (le carré central correspond au chœur de l’église originelle), sur croisées d’ogives, qui s’achève à chaque angle par un contrefort nécessaire au soutien du clocher quadrangulaire (haut de 35 mètres). Le sanctuaire, avec ses baies, est caractéristique du gothique flamboyant, tout comme le bras Nord du transept.
Le bras Sud, fut construit au XVIII° siècle afin d’accueillir l’autel de Saint-Jean-Baptiste sur lequel « le doigt du précurseur » (l’index de la main droite du saint), relique appartenant à l’abbaye de Basse-Fontaine sécularisée en 1773, devait prendre place la même année (visible au Trésor de la cathédrale de Troyes).
Des fouilles archéologiques réalisées dans l'espace de l'église ont également permis de mettre au jour les vestiges d'une colonne d'époque gallo-romaine surmontée d'un personnage représentant le dieu celte Taranis (dieu de la foudre à rapprocher de Jupiter), exposés à l'entrée de la nef.
A l’extérieur, le visiteur peut voir une Vierge à l’Enfant en pierre polychrome située au-dessus de la porte Nord ainsi qu'une longue épitaphe (1590) sculptée dans une pierre fichée dans le mur à côté de la porte Sud d’époque romane. "
