Globe is the center of the copper mining area of Gila County. The mine rescue station housed the men and equipment used for medical emergencies in the mines. Today it houses the Gila County Historical Museum which preserves historical objects and the building itself. The museum, while small, presents the history of the native americans, ranchers, miners and townsfolk who have occupied the Globe area.
