The Sequoiafarm Kaldenkirchen is a 35,635 square meter arboretum with a rich history. Here, the first systematic breeding and selection of redwood trees took place in Europe.
Today there are 67-year-old mountain redwood trees, a unique grove of coastal redwoods (about 39 to 40 m high), as well as dawn redwoods and about 400 other rare woody species.
The park is located in the Kaldenkirchener Grenzwald, a nature reserve belonging to the town of Nettetal (Lower Rhine) and since 2013 has been owned by Sequoiafarm e.V., an association in which some sequoia friends have come together to look after the preservation of the arboretum.
