Als Verbindung vom RheinSteig in Rengsdorf bis zum Westerwald-Steig in Waldbreitbach lädt der Klosterweg auf 17 traumhaft schönen Kilometern zum Wandern und zum "Seele baumeln lassen" ein.
Westerwald: Aussichtsreiche Wanderung
Der Klosterweg bietet Naturerlebnis hautnah. Vom Startpunkt an der St. Kastor Kapelle in Rengsdorf (Parkplatz) geht es zunächst entlang des RheinSteigs. Hinter dem archäölogischen Denkmal “Römergraben” verlässt der Klosterweg jedoch den berühmten Weitwanderweg und führt auf einsamen Pfaden hinunter ins Laubachtal. Pfadig und verschlungen geht es von hier durch den Wald bergauf nach Ehlscheid. Bei schönem Wetter lohnt ein Zwischenstopp am Kneippbecken direkt am Weg. Später bestimmt eine weite Hochfläche die Szenerie, bevor der Klosterweg die tief eingeschnittenen Mündungsarme des Dombaches umrundet und hinauf zur Hl. Schutzengel-Kirche in Kurtscheid führt. (Einkehrmöglichkeit im Ort). Bald darauf verläuft der Weg hinab ins Fockenbachtal. Unterwegs passieren Wanderer die geheimnisvolle Burgruine Neuerburg und das neu errichtete Kapellchen “Mutter-Rosa-Gedenkstätte”. Steil bergauf geht es dann zum berühmten Kloster Marienhaus. Von hier ist es nicht mehr weit nach Waldbreitbach, wo der Klosterweg mit der Anbindung zum Westerwaldsteig endet.

Westerwald: Promising hike
The Klosterweg offers a close-up experience of nature. From the starting point at the St. Kastor Chapel in Rengsdorf (parking lot), you first drive along the RheinSteig. Behind the archaeological monument "Römergraben", however, the Klosterweg leaves the famous long-distance path and leads on lonely paths down to the Laubachtal valley. Path and devoured it goes from here through the forest uphill to Ehlscheid. In good weather, a stop at the Kneipp basin is worthwhile. Later, a wide plateau determines the scenery, before the monastery path surrounds the deeply cut mouths of the Dombach and leads up to the church of the Guardian Angel in Kurtscheid. (Refreshments in place). Soon after, the path runs down into the Fockenbachtal. On the way hikers pass the mysterious Neuerburg castle ruin and the newly built chapel "Mutter-Rosa-Gedenkstätte". Steep uphill then it goes to the famous monastery Marienhaus. From here it is not far to Waldbreitbach, where the Klosterweg ends with the connection to the Westerwaldsteig.
