The front of the obelisk has the family name, "White", with the Woodmen of the World emblem on the plinth. The reverse is rough and unpolished, which is fairly common with these obelisks.

Mr. White's side of the obelisk has the three chain links of the Odd Fellows near the top -- Friendship, Love and Truth -- and this inscription:

J.L. White

Born
Mar. 6, 1860
Died
Feb. 23, 1910

---

His toils are past,
his work is done
He fought the fight,
the victory won.

-----

Mrs. White's side of the obelisk has the Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle emblem at the bottom, and at the top is a five-pointed star, suggesting some kind of organization. It's not a classic Order of the Eastern Star emblem, and neither does it belong to the Rebekahs, the female auxiliary of the Odd Fellows, to which her husband belonged. The inscription is:

Eliza A.
White

Born
May 1, 1860
Died
Mar. 29, 1955

---

I have fought a good fight
I have finished my course
I have kept the faith.

II Tim. IV:7
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
