On the western end of the brown brick Gothic-styled Church (The Avenue end), is a 'portrait' oriented sculpted sandstone Foundation Stone, with a Gothic-styled pointed arch over the following inscription:
To The Glory Of God

A wooden Church was built in 1856. The first
Church of England in St. George. It was used as
the Lord's Forest Church of England School until
1876 when the Public School was opened. A brick
Church was built in 1889, The churchyard was the
only cemetery in the Hurstville Municipality and
was closed in 1905.
