This 21-foot tall metal statue made mainly from hubcaps, is located near the intersection of Dutch Lane and Champion Road in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
According to several sources, there used to be a metal working company located here. In 1983, the owner of the company decided to make a statue that would honor women, their virtue and strength. So, he hired an 18-year old girl to design and build the statue with women that worked at the company. These women spent time after work building it over the course of a year.
There's a wooden board located near the statue with the following poem:
I am your mother yet I am a women standing in to the "Winds of Change". Expected to be better than good... The Winds force me to change yet I do not want to be anymore than I am. A women - your mother. Take my hand. We will stand together into the "Winds of Change". The Lady.
Jeffersonville is a city in Clark County, Indiana, along the Ohio River. Locally, the city is often referred to by the abbreviated name Jeff. It is directly across the Ohio River to the north of Louisville, Kentucky, along I-65. The population was 44,953 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Clark County.
