Listed bishop's hostel at the foot of the Ratzeburg Cathedral.
The bishop's hostel dates back to around 1230 and is picturesquely situated at the foot of the Ratzeburg Cathedral. It is the oldest surviving (almost) profane building in Schleswig-Holstein outside of Lübeck. In 800 years, in addition to a reconstruction in 1653, it has only undergone four minor modifications. Even the building from the late renaissance reconstruction is a special feature of Ratzeburg because the city was completely destroyed even during the siege of 1693.
After extensive refurbishment, the bishop's hostel now offers an exceptional setting for a café with homemade cakes and pies.
