Lee School was a WPA-built school in 1936, with an appropriation of $49,242. The school no longer stands, and all that remains are the concrete sidewalks stamped with the WPA shield, and a roughly made sandstone wall which runs along the south and west sides of the property. A newer elementary school has been built on the east half of the property.
The wall is uncoursed, with the use of some very large rocks. At two or three entrances, there are short rock pillars. Sidewalks proceed through the entrances, going nowhere. We have been unable to find a photo of the now demolished school, and have only the wall to remind us of the amazing job the Depression-era workers did throughout the country.
(The website below documents this property, however we believe the photo of the building to be incorrect. There is another current Lee School in town today and most likely there has been confusion with the photography).
