Smithsonian Art Inventories

He wears a jacket, vest, shirt and bow tie. He has a moustache. The marble sculpture sits atop an ornately carved gray granite base. The top of the base is arched; there is decorative bas-relief carving in the front recess of the arch. The center section of the base is decorated with high relief columns on the outer edges. The base slopes downward and ends in two steps.
