Union City is located about 25 miles southwest of Oklahoma. The area was settled in 1884 when still Unassigned Lands. By 1889, a town had formed and a post office was established. As with most Oklahoma towns, the arrival of the railroad began its development, providing incoming goods, and a source for marketing agricultural products.

The town hall is Union City occupies a building along with the police and fire departments. This is a one-story brick building with a gable roof. The fire department is located in a metal building to the rear. First settled in 1884 in the Unassigned Lands, the town was established with the opening of their post office in 1889.

The town is governed by a Mayor and Vice-Mayor, and a three-person Board of Trustees. The Board meets the second Monday of each month. The municipal court meets the third Thursday of each month. Union City is located about 25 miles southwest of Oklahoma City.
