The grave of 2nd Lt. Joseph Leonard Follett is located in a family plot marked by a headstone inscribed Follett on the front and a bronze Medal of Honor plaque on the back. Thee is also an individual granite grave marker with a rounded top which is inscribed:

Joseph Leonard Follett was born in Newark, NJ on February 16, 1843. He joined the 1st Missouri (not MD) Infantry in April 1861, later re-organized as the 1st Missouri Light Artillery. He was awarded the Medal of Honor on September 19, 1890 for his actions on March 3, 1862 during the Battle of Island Number Ten in New Madrid, MO and on December 31, 1862 during the Battle of Stones River in TN.

According to his Medal of Honor citation:

At New Madrid, Mo., remained on duty though severely wounded. While procuring ammunition from the supply train at Stone River, Tenn., was captured, but made his escape, secured the ammunition, and in less than an hour from the time of his capture had the batteries supplied.
