"The Hexa-Hive serves as honeybee housing and as a seat or bench for humans. The design gives an alternative to beekeeping in urban surroundings and invites an encounter with these valuable and special animals. When sitting on the Hexa-Hive, you can explore being close to a colony of honeybees - experiencing intimacy with these insects thrOUgh their sounds, smell, and their ongoing movement.
Design and concept: Christina Stadlbauer and Kiran Ganghadaran
Hexa-Hives'are placed at Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden since 2012 and are part of Melliferopolis-Bees in Urban Environrnents project." (

"Hexa-Hive on koti kaupunkimehiläisille.
