George W. Hyde acquired the franchise from Cleburne to Ft. Worth in 1933. This was important to the city as train service had ceased in 1931. With two older vehicles, he began service and established the Central Texas Bus lines. The bus line expanded to serve Temple, Waco to Galveston, Eastland, Groesbeck and Henderson, and of course Dallas.

In the 1950s and 1960s the Selective Service draft board used this bus line to transport Johnson County draftees to Dallas for their Army physicals.

Although Mr. Hyde sold the company in 1960, the company continued for years with headquarters in Waco, TX.

Interesting architecture:
There is a mural on the side of the building depicting the Central Bus Line from around 1950. The bus pictured is a 1947 "Clipper" which could seat 29 passengers.
