Miami was founded in 1907 to provide support to the miners working the copper mines in the area. It quickly prospered, providing housing and retail services to the miner's families. As with many mining towns, the boom times are long gone and the town struggles to exist. Many of the buildings in its main shopping area are abandoned. The Travelers Hotel building is no exception. Boarded up, with broken windows, pigeons are now the main occupants. The sign still hangs on to the building. It has been painted green with white letters. At some point in its life it has been converted to neon advertising the Real Market. Most of the neon tubes are gone leaving the original style obvious.
