"The building was the Sainte-Marie convent, which housed the nuns of the Congregation of Notre-Dame, founded by Pierre Fourier.The construction began in 1631 on the plans of the architect Pacquotte.The convent was enlarged on the plans of Robert of Cotte with a chapel, new buildings and a large portal.
In 1792, after the revolutionary confiscations, the former convent became a barracks and then a wheat store. It was used between 1806 and 1826 in cotton factory, it became the Grand seminar in 1827.
In 1903, he suffered a phase of abandonment, two wings were destroyed and a portal moved to the Garinet museum before his assignment in police station from 1942 to 1991. The building is classified as a historical monument in 1943 for its facade, its roofs.
Then in 1995, he knows his current assignment to the General Council after a rehabilitation phase by the architect Jean-Denis Gouzien. "

"Le bâtiment était le couvent Sainte-Marie qui accueillait les religieuses de la Congrégation de Notre-Dame qui fut fondé par Pierre Fourier. La construction débutait en 1631 sur des plans de l'architecte Pacquotte. Le couvent fut agrandi sur les plans de Robert de Cotte avec une chapelle, de nouveaux bâtiments et un grand portail.
En 1792, après les confiscations révolutionnaires, l'ancien couvent devenait une caserne puis un magasin de blé. Il ftilisé entre 1806 et 1826 en usine de coton, il devint le Grand séminaire en 1827.
En 1903, il connut une phase d'abandon, deux ailes furent détruites et un portail déplacé au musée Garinet avant son affectation en commissariat de police de 1942 à 1991. Le bâtiment est classé au titre des monuments historiques en 1943 pour sa façade, ses toitures.
Puis en 1995, il connaît son affectation actuelle au conseil général après une phase de réhabilitation par l'architecte Jean-Denis Gouzien. "
